Welcome

We have had a great start to the school year. Students and staff have been working hard at setting goals and making gains to achieve them.

Since the opening day of the school year, we have taken on the challenge of promoting excellence in what we do and what we expect. In encouraging a mindset of excellence, we are teaching that excellence is not so much about being perfect, but more about doing the best you can. As parents and teachers we encounter the difficulty in balancing the appropriate amount of support versus promoting independence. A recent article in Psychology Today discussed how to set our children up for success without being a “helicopter” parent. Some of the highlights of the article were for parents to stop controlling situations and to start coaching through situations, creating opportunities for success, encouraging kids and teaching self-encouragement, focusing on effort, and being a positive role model for them.

Our goal is to help develop “gritty” students that are known for excellence.

We are what we repeatedly do.

Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. Will Durant
