Success Time

Dear Woodlan Parent,

We are well into the second semester here at Woodlan Junior-Senior High School and most of you should have received your child’s 1st semester report card. Woodlan Junior-Senior High School also received its school grade this fall and Woodlan received a “C” letter grade. As a school we need to improve our grade. Beginning Tuesday morning, January 22, Woodlan will have a new schedule which will enable us as a school to work on improving our school grade.
At the end of 3rd period, a thirty minute block of time, called Success Time, will be devoted to a number of activities. 7th and 8th grade students had a class meeting Monday afternoon to talk about the activities that they would be doing during the success time. High school students will work on school improvement activities that they are presently doing during 4th period. For example, this Tuesday, students will work on math problems that they were working on in 4th period. Your child’s 3rd period teacher will explain the weekly schedule for the remainder of the week and expectations for students on Tuesday. Some students will also begin work in math and English in preparation for the upcoming ECA tests.
Lunch schedules will be changed as follows: junior high students will eat the first lunch, students who ate lunch the second lunch will still eat lunch the second lunch and students who ate lunch the first lunch will now eat lunch the third lunch.

As with any new approach, it takes a great deal of patience and cooperation for the new approach to work. It is my hope and belief that our new schedule will help us to improve as a school and earn a better overall school grade. If you have any questions about the new schedule, feel free to talk with your child’s teachers or me about your questions.
